Abstract

Zadaća je ovoga završnog rada proučavanje odnosa zajednice prema osobama s Downovim sindromom. Prije svega, rad nas upoznaje s pojmom bioetika, a nadalje rad proučava Downov sindrom, njegov nastanak i utjecaj na obitelj. Zatim proučava prenatalnu dijagnostiku, njezine metode te etički sud o prenatalnoj dijagnostici. Ovaj se završni rad bavi i pravima osoba s Downovim sindromom i istražuje kako se društvo odnosi prema njima, diskriminira li ih ili podupire. S obzirom na to da su osobe s Downovim sindromom drukčije, nisu u potpunosti prihvaćene u društvu u svojoj različitosti. Cilj istraživanja bio je utvrditi smatra li suvremeno društvo da osobe s Downovim sindromom imaju dovoljan stupanj podrške u društvu, imaju li pravo na zapošljavanje, pravo na obrazovanje i na kraju, zna li suvremeno društvo uopće što Downov sindrom znači. Rezultati su pokazali da je suvremeno društvo upoznato s Downovim sindromom i da su osobe s Downovim sindromom prihvaćene u društvu, ali bez obzira na prihvaćenost, nisu ravnopravno uključene u društvo.

Abstract (english)

The task of this final work is to study the relationship of community according to
people with Down syndrome. First of all, this work introduces us to the concept of
bioethics and Down syndrome, its development and impact on the family. Then, this
final work studies prenatal diagnosis, its methods, and ethical judgment on prenatal
diagnosis. This final work also deals with the rights of people with Down syndrome
and research how society is referring to them, whether it discriminates them or
supports them. People with Down syndrome are different so they are unaccepted in
society. The goal of this research was to determine whether a modern society thinks
that people with Down syndrome have a sufficient degree of support from society,
whether they have the right to employment, the right to education, and in the end,
does modern society know what Down syndrome means. The results have shown that
the modern society is familiar with Down syndrome and that people with Down
syndrome are accepted in society, but regardless of their acceptance, they are not
equally involved in society.
