Abstract

Ovim radom promišlja se etički aspekt odnosa roditelja, obitelji, odgojno-obrazovnih
ustanova i šire društvene zajednice prema djeci s Downovim sindromom. Taj se
odnos sagledava pod vidikom utjecaja na njih i na njihovo odrastanje, posebice
ireverzibilnih negativnih posljedica. Pri tom se posebice istražuje njihovo odrastanje
od kretanja u vrtić i školu do razdoblja adolescencije. Boravak djece s Downovim
sindromom u odgojno-obrazovnim ustanovama, kao što su vrtić i škola, dovodi u
pitanje neke, suvremenom društvu neprihvatljive, oblike ponašanja prema njima na
koja znaju nailaziti i o tomu svjedoče u javnosti. Takva događanja upućuju na to da
su u društvu u raznim njegovim segmentima i nadalje prisutne predrasude i to unatoč
znatnim naporima raznih udruga i društveno zauzetih pojedinaca.

Abstract (english)

This thesis will reflect on the ethical aspect of the relationship between parents,
families, educational institutions and the wider social community towards children
with Down's syndrome. This relationship is viewed in the light of the influence it has
on them and their upbringing, especially on the irreversible negative consequences.
In particular, the thesis will investigate their development from nursery to school to
adolescence. Having children with Down’s syndrome in educational institutions,
such as kindergartens and schools, challenges some of the modern society's
unacceptable forms of behaviour which can be seen and witnessed in the society and
are directed at such children. Such events point to the fact that the society, in its
various segments, still faces prejudices despite the considerable efforts of various
associations and socially engaged individuals.
