Abstract

U sklopu ovog diplomskog rada provedeno je istraživanje u kojemu su sudjelovali učenici drugih, trećih i četvrtih razreda. Cilj diplomskog rada bio je ispitati čitalačku sklonost učenika ranog primarnog obrazovanja. Metodom anketiranja došlo se do potrebnih podataka koji su dali uvid u stanje u dvije zagrebačke škole. Anketa je sadržavala dvadeset pitanja, a rezultati su obrađeni s obzirom na spol učenika i razred koji pohađaju. Anketne tvrdnje prema kojima učenici moraju iskazati razinu slaganja vezana su za čitanje prije škole, u školi, u slobodno vrijeme, čitanje lektire i sl.
Prema dobivenim rezultatima, može se zaključiti da učenici vole čitati. Potvrđeno je da djevojčice čitaju više, češće posjećuju knjižnicu i više vježbaju kod kuće čitanje od dječaka. Vidljiv je i veći postotak učenika koji pokazuje da u današnje vrijeme roditelji sve manje čitaju djeci prije polaska u školu što nije dobro za njihov jezični razvoj.
Roditelji i odgojitelji prvi bi trebali upoznavati djecu s ljepotom pisane riječi skrivene iza korica knjige pažljivo odabirući slikovnice i priče kojima će utjecati na razvoj sklonosti prema knjizi već od najranijih dana te ih poticati na razmišljanje o pročitanom tekstu. Polaskom u prvi razred, učitelji započinju poučavati učenike vještini čitanja koja ima velik utjecaj na školski uspjeh, obogaćivanje rječnika i razvoj mašte i osobnog mišljenja o pročitanom tekstu.
Izrazito je važno ne dozvoliti da polaskom u viši razred sklonost i želja za čitanjem počnu padati te je stoga potrebno osluškivati želje i interese učenika koji će posezati za knjigom ne samo kada moraju, već i onda kada to sami žele.

Abstract (english)

For the purposes of this thesis, research was conducted on the students of second, third and fourth primary school grades. The goal of this thesis was to ascertain the literacy competencies of students in early primary education. Results were gathered with the survey method in two schools in Zagreb. The survey consisted of twenty questions and the results were sorted based on the students' gender and grade level. The survey prompted the students to rate their level of agreement with statements about reading before school, in school, in their free time, etc.
The gathered results indicate that students like to read. It has been determined that girls read, visit libraries and practice reading at home more often than boys. The results also made clear that today parents do not read to their children before they attend school as much as they did before, which is bad for their language development.
Parents and kindergarten educators should be the first to introduce children to the beauty of the written word hidden between book covers, carefully selecting picture books and stories which will influence their level of regard for reading from their earliest days and encourage critical thinking about what they read. In first grade, teachers start teaching students the skill of reading, which has a large influence on later success in school, the richness of vocabulary, development of imagination, and personal opinions on what they read.
It is extremely important not to allow that desire to read to deteriorate when students move on to higher grade levels. Therefore, the teachers should keep in mind their students' preferences and interests so that they would reach for a book not only when they have to, but when they want to.
