Abstract

Down sindrom, često nazivan i trisomija 21, je jedan on najčešćih genetskih poremećaja. Postoji mnogo karakteristika koje ga obilježavaju, ali se razlikuju njegovim intenzitetom od djeteta do djeteta. Cilj ovog rada bio je aktualizirati i osvijestiti probleme djece oboljele od Down sindroma te život i rad njihovih roditelja i odgajatelja. Od ranog djetinjstva, djecu s Down sindromom treba u potpunosti uključiti u edukacijski i socijalni život okoline. Na taj način, djeca imaju jednake mogućnosti razvoja svojih spoznajnih, društvenih, tjelesnih i emocionalnih sposobnosti. Primjerenim oblicima rada, profesionalnom pomoći te pedagoško-didaktičkom prilagodbom, djeca s DS-om mogu u potpunosti razviti i ostvariti svoj potencijal. Predškolsko doba je važno razdoblje za djetetov razvoj. Postoje posebni programi koji se provode u posebnim odgojnim skupinama u redovnim vrtićima ili posebnim ustanovama. Uključivanjem djece s DS-om u inkluzivne grupe ili redovite vrtiće, ona postaju članovi društvene zajednice, ostvaruju bolju i zadovoljniju svakodnevicu te se bolje pripremaju za što samostalniji oblik življenja. Djeca s Down sindromom su prije svega djeca s istim društvenim, emocionalnim i obrazovnim potrebama kao i sva druga djeca. Žele biti uključeni u zajedništvo, žele učiti i igrati se s djecom koja ih okružuju.

Abstract (english)

Down syndrome (DS), also known as trisomy 21, is one on the most common genetic disorders. Children with DS are often identified at birth as a result of the physical characteristics associated with the syndrome. Some children exhibit only a few characteristics; others exhibit many. The aim of this study was to raise the importance and awareness of the problems of children with DS, and the life and work of their parents and educators . From early childhood, children with Down syndrome should be fully involved in educational and social life environment. In this way, children have equal opportunities of development of their cognitive, social, physical and emotional abilities. Appropriate forms of work, professional help and pedagogical-didactic adaptation of children with DS can fully develop and realize their potential. Preschool age is an important period for the child's development. There are special programs that are implemented in special educational groups in regular kindergartens or special institutions. The inclusion of children with DS in inclusive groups or regular kindergarten, allows them to become members of the community, more satisfied with everyday life and better prepared for independent living. Children with DS are primarily children with the same social, emotional and educational needs, as well as all other children. They want to be involved in the community, they want to learn and play with the kids around them.
