Abstract

U ovom radu promatrali su se stereotipi u Disneyjevim animiranim filmovima, od njihovih početaka do 2020. godine. Temeljito su obrađeni animirani filmovi između 2010. i 2020. godine, kako bi se uvidio mogući napredak u prikazivanju rodnih, rasnih, etničkih, kulturoloških i klasnih stereotipa, stereotipa na temelju fizičkog izgleda, kao i onih usmjerenih na osobe starije životne dobi. Disneyjevi animirani filmovi, distribuirani prije 2010. godine, i stereotipi u njima sažeto su prikazani kako bi se mogli usporediti s onima distribuiranima između 2010. i 2020. godine. Rodni stereotipi su i dalje sveprisutni, kao stereotipi na temelju fizičkog izgleda, no vide se mali koraci prema poboljšanju. U prikazivanju rasnih, etničkih i kulturoloških stereotipa vidimo najveći pomak, dok su starije osobe u Disneyjevim animiranim filmovima još uvijek nezastupljene i marginalizirane. Spominje se i utjecaj tih animiranih filmova na djecu predškolske dobi. Zaključeno je kako su u Disneyju svjesni svojih grešaka iz prošlosti te aktivno rade na poboljšanju u prikazivanju stereotipa, iako im to ne polazi uvijek za rukom.

Abstract (english)

This paper observed stereotypes of Disney’s animated films from their beginnings to 2020. Animated films between 2010 and 2020 were thoroughly observed to see possible advances in showing gender, racial, ethnic, cultural, class stereotypes and those based on physical appearance and the ones aimed at the elderly. Disney’s animated films distributed before 2010 and the stereotypes in them are summarized so that they can be compared to those distributed between 2010 and 2020. Gender stereotypes are still very present, as are the ones based on physical appearance, but small steps towards improvement are seen. We see the biggest shift in the portrayal of racial, ethnic, cultural stereotypes, while the elderly in Disney animated films are still underrepresented and marginalized. Their impact on preschool children is also mentioned. It was concluded that Disney is aware of their mistakes from the past and are actively working to improve the presentation of stereotypes, although they do not always succeed.
