Abstract

Pretilost postaje sve veći problem kod današnje djece. Prekomjerna tjelesna težina i pretilost koja je uočena u mlađoj dobi najčešće se prenosi i u kasnija razdoblja života. Povećane količine masnog tkiva u tijelu uzrokuju kako razne bolesti tako i slabiju sposobnost izvođenja kretanja. Svrha ovog istraživanja bila je ispitati relacije sastava tijela i opće tjelesne spremnosti djece mlađe školske dobi. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 52 djece u dobi od 9 i 10 godina. Za ispitivanje fitnesa tj. opće tjelesne spremnosti korišten je test President’s Challenge battery koji sadržava pet čestica (zgibovi, podizanje trupa, pretklon, izmjenično trčanje i trčanje na 1600 m), antropometrijska mjerenja te kožne nabore natkoljenice, nadlaktice, leđa i trbuha. Test trčanje na 1600 m nije proveden zbog nepovoljnih klimatskih uvjeta. Podaci o dobi i spolu ispitanika dobiveni su od učiteljica. Prema rezultatima istraživanja ispitanici koji pripadaju skupini s normalnim indeksom tjelesne mase ostvarili su najbolje rezultate na motoričkim testovima. Također, rezultati pokazuju da u uzorku ima visok broj pretilih ispitanika (17.31%) te ispitanika s prekomjernom tjelesnom težinom (11.54%). Rezultati pokazuju da su antropometrijski pokazatelji međusobno pozitivno povezani. Veći indeks tjelesne mase ukazuje na veći udio masnog tkiva, pa je očekivano da će povećanje kožnih nabora i opsega struka slijediti i povećanje indeksa tjelesne mase.

Abstract (english)

Obesity is becoming an increasing problem in today's children. Overweight and obesity observed at a young age are most often transmitted in later periods. Increased amounts of adipose tissue in the body cause both various diseases and a weaker ability of a person to perform certain movements. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between body composition and the body fitness of young school children. The study involved 52 children aged 9 and 10 years. Motor fitness of the children was assessed using the President's Challenge battery, which contains five itms (pull-ups, sit and reach, shuttlle run and one-mile run), anthropometric measurements included height and weight and high, triceps, subscapular and abdominal skinfolds. One-mile run was not carried out due to unfavorable weatherconditions. Data on the age and sex of the respondents were obtained from teachers. According to the results the subjects belonging to the group with a normal body mass index achieved the best results on motor tests. Also, the results show that the sample has a high number of obese subjects (17.31%) and overweight subjects (11.54%). The results show that anthropometric indicators are positively related to each other. A higher body mass index indicates a higher proportion of adipose tissue, so it is expected that an increase in skinfolds and waist circumference will cause body mass index increment.
