Abstract (english) Today's modern times have brought a fast way of living. Today, this fast way of life affects us in many ways. In addition to our mental state, it also affects our physical state, which is worsened by poor nutrition caused by less time and a fast-paced lifestyle. Life has become a sedentary lifestyle, which has a bad effect on our health. Old grandmother's home recipes have been replaced by fast food chains, and walks and outdoor games have been replaced by a large number of new technologies. Life habits are best acquired in childhood. In order for children to learn and develop their life habits as easily as possible, parents and the environment should be the best example for them. A great responsibility falls on preschool institutions where children spend more than eight hours a day. In order to recognize in time the symptoms of diseases or disorders in children that will affect their growth and development, but also later on their way of life, it is extremely important to conduct anthropometric measurements. As every day we encounter an increasing number of obese and undernourished children, it is necessary to place great emphasis on proper nutrition and daily physical activity. The primary goal of this paper is to determine the nutritional status of children in early and preschool age through research using the before mentioned antopometric measurement.
In order to determine the state of nutrition, research was conducted in a kindergarten in the city of Zagreb in the younger educational group of 19 children. Of these, 10 boys and 9 girls. For the purposes of the research, data on the age of the children, their body height (HW) and body weight (WW) were required, on the basis of which the body mass index (BMI) and its percentage (%BMI) were calculated.
The results of this research show that a total of seven children in this sample deviate from the normal state of nutrition. t was also determined that there is no statistically significant difference in nutritional status between girls and boys.
It is very important to monitor the nutritional status of children in order to respond in time if there are deviations or the appearance of symptoms of some diseases.
