Abstract

Fenomen sharentinga sve češće zauzima središnje mjesto u raspravama o zaštiti dječjih prava. Sharenting se odnosi na prakse roditelja koji dijele osjetljive podatke, fotografije i videozapise svoje djece na digitalnim društvenim mrežama. Stoga je provedeno kvalitativno istraživanje koje ima za cilj ispitati roditeljske percepcije i prakse vezane uz sharenting. Istraživanje se temelji na dramaturškoj teoriji Ervinga Goffmana (1959/2000) koja pruža dublje razumijevanje samopredstavljanja roditelja u digitalnom okruženju i uloge koju sharenting ima u oblikovanju njihovih online identiteta. U okviru studije provedeni su polustrukturirani individualni intervjui s 12 roditelja djece do dvanaest godina, koji objavljuju podatke, fotografije i videozapise djece na digitalnim društvenim mrežama. Kao glavni motiv objavljivanja roditelji navode želju za dijeljenjem važnih životnih trenutaka s rodbinom i prijateljima, uz napomenu da pažljivo biraju sadržaje koje dijele. U skladu s Goffmanovom teorijom (1959/2000) roditelji različitim objavama na digitalnim društvenim mrežama žele kreirati određenu sliku roditeljstva i upravljati dojmovima svoje online publike. Veći dio roditelja sharenting smatra etički prihvatljivim, navode i da je njihov krug online prijatelja ograničen na ljude od povjerenja i da je to način zaštite od zloupotrebe fotografija/videozapisa djece i njihovih podataka. Međutim, rezultati pokazuju da roditelji često nisu svjesni svih rizika i negativnih posljedica sharentinga. Neki roditelji su tijekom intervjua priznali da nisu razmišljali o mogu im neželjenim posljedicama sharentinga, poput krađe identiteta i sl. te su naveli da ih je intervju u okviru istraživanja potakao na preispitivanje navika u vezi s dijeljenjem sadržaja u digitalnom okruženju. Rezultati kvalitativne analize ukazuju na potrebu za edukacijom roditelja o zaštiti privatnosti djece. Kroz analizu roditeljskih iskustava i perspektiva, rad doprinosi boljem razumijevanju fenomena sharentinga u suvremenom društvu.

Abstract (english)

The phenomenon of sharenting often takes centre stage in discussions about the protection of children's rights. Sharenting refers to the practices of parents who share sensitive data, photos, and videos of their children on digital social networks. A qualitative study was conducted to examine parental perceptions and practices related to sharenting. The research is based on Erving Goffman's dramaturgical theory (1959/2000), which provides a deeper understanding of parents' selfpresentation in the digital environment and sharenting's role in shaping their online identities. Semistructured individual interviews were conducted with 12 parents of children under the age of twelve who regularly post content about their children on digital social networks. Parents cited the desire to share important life moments with family and friends as the primary motivation for these posts, emphasising that they carefully choose the content they share. In line with Goffman's theory (1959/2000), parents aim to create a certain image of parenthood and manage the impressions of their online audience through various posts on digital social networks. Most parents consider sharenting as ethically acceptable, stating that their online circle of friends is limited to trusted individuals and that this is a way to protect against the misuse of children's photos or data. However, the results show that parents are often unaware of some risks and negative consequences of sharenting. Some parents admitted that they had not thought about potential unwanted consequences of sharenting, such as identity theft, and mentioned that the interview prompted them to reconsider their habits regarding content sharing in the digital environment. The results of the qualitative analysis point to the need for educating parents about protecting children's privacy. Through an analysis of parental experiences and perspectives, the study contributes to a better understanding of the phenomenon of sharenting in contemporary society
