Abstract Danas skoro svaki čovjek doživi neki oblik diskriminacije ili predrasuda temeljen na njegovom izgledu, boji kože, spolu, nacionalnosti, stupnju obrazovanja ili određenom deficitu.
Abstract (english) Today, every other human experiences some kind of discrimination or prejudice which is based on their physical appearance, skin color, gender, nationality, level of education or some other deficit. Even though we live in a modern world in which we can often meet various types of people we still can't fully accept all the differences they have. Consciously or unconsciously, we create opinion in advance about people we don't even know, just on the basis of what we see for the first time or what we hear about them. We put labels on people and classify them in various groups while we do not take in mind what kind of person they really are, their attitude, beliefs and opinion. There are few explanations why we still have a tendency to approve people similar to us and disapprove someone who is different. Social evolution theory assumes that the cause of hostility we are witnessing today towards people who are different is caused by our ancestors behaviour towards these kind of people which then usually ended with physical confrontation because of fear for their lives. Second theory is that from beginning of our existence we didn't have implanted true moral values so we didn't really appreciate right thing about people. Minority groups very often confront great obstacles because of that discriminative opinions and they often don't fit in the society. And society works in the principle to glorify equality but not differences. Education sistem works in the same way as society. It's good for an average child who can understand every class and learn about it how much it is needed but on the other hand it is bad for children with special needs like autism, ADHD and gifted children. System which is trying to integrate various children in upbringing and education is totally unadjusted to their differences. Today's system demands impossible from these children and it needs a major change if we want to have a successful education system. But if we can't change this system, we can only change ourselves and our way of thinking so that we can accept differences and draw the best fro each one of us. The process which encourages such development of attitudes and values with people like global interdependence, peace, tolerance, social justice and environmental consciousness is called upbringing for development and one of its concepts is knowing other people and respecting their differences.
