(Zakon o odgoju i obrazovanju u osnovnoj i srednjoj školi, 2017).
Abstract (english) According to the article number 12, paragraph 1 of the Croatian Law about education in elementary and high school primary education begins by signing up in 1st grade, is obligatory for all kids and usually begins when a child is 6 and ends when he turns 15 (Zakon o odgoju i obrazovanju u osnovnoj i srednjoj školi, 2017). According to ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education) elementary school in Croatia divides on primary and secondary education. Primary education starts after finishing preschool at age 7, and secondary education starts after completing the primary education at age 11 (ISCED, 2011). Considering that there are many changes for each child in transition from primary to secondary education, for example: change and larger number of different professors for each subject, new subjects (science, history and geography), absence of one teacher for each subject and increase of curriculum, we can conclude that secondary education is more demanding than primary education ((Ministarstvo znanosti, obrazovanja i športa, 2006).
According to the latter reasons, this research was conducted to get the insight whether there is a statistically significant difference at school satisfaction between students in primary and students in secondary education. Respondents were students of three fourth grades (53 students) and two fifth grades (40 students) of Elementary school Vrbani. Method of the research is descriptive and comparative, technique of the research was content analysis. Research instrument is questionnaire which consists of 24 particles that are grouped in three factors: sadness/loneliness factor, school satisfaction factor and teacher's role in creating class environment factor. Analysis of sadness/loneliness factor and school satisfaction factor by t-test showed that fifth grade students are statistically sadder/lonelier but more satisfied with school than fourth grade students. As opposed to first two factors, third factor, teacher's role in creating class environment, was analysed by Mann-Whitney test and displayed that fifth grade students are statistically less satisfied with their teachers than fourth grade students.
