Abstract

U radu se razmatra problematika poticanja čitanja u doba aktualizacije digitalnih medija. Pri tome se u obzir uzimaju pad motivacije za čitanje tiskanih knjiga (posebice u djece osnovnoškolske dobi) te istovremeno povećanje upotrebe digitalnih medija. Stoga je cilj rada ukazati na važnost razvijanja čitateljskih sposobnosti kada suvremeno doba počinje odvajati čitatelja od knjige. U svrhu razumijevanja korisnosti procesa čitanja na život pojedinca, potrebno je sagledati kako ono utječe na njegov mozak. Iako je čitanje neprirodan proces, rast čitateljske sposobnosti stimulira stvaranje i jačanje sinapsi u mozgu. Stoga se može zaključiti da je čitanje sposobnost koja izgrađuje mozak. Vrhunac razvoja čitateljske sposobnosti jest dubinsko čitanje. Ono se prepoznaje po uživanju u čitanju i udubljivanju u sadržaj. Jednako tako pridonosi razvoju empatije, širenju spoznaja i vizualizaciji teksta. Na taj način izgrađuju se povoljni temelji za kritičko mišljenje koje je izuzetno potrebno razvijati zbog dostupnosti velikog broja lako dostupnih informacija. Premda novi mediji nude mogućnost bržeg dolaženja do informacija, jednako tako se ta brzina primjenjuje i na proces čitanja, pa površno čitanje počinje zamjenjivati ono dubinsko. Prečesta upotreba digitalnih medija narušava pozornost, pamćenje i koncentraciju koji su ključni za proces dubinskog čitanja. Zato je važno kritički pristupati korištenju tim izvorima informacija. Iako je vidljiv negativan utjecaj zaslona na mozak čitatelja, a i pojedinca općenito, ipak se upotreba digitalnih medija ne može zabraniti. Potrebno je održavati barem ravnotežni odnos između knjige i zaslona, pogotovo među mladima. U tome najveću odgovornost imaju roditelji i učitelji koji mlade naraštaje trebaju poučiti dubinskom promišljanju kako bi čitateljsku sposobnost mogli iskoristiti u poplavi informacija sa interneta i zaslona općenito.

Abstract (english)

The paper discusses the issue of encouraging reading in the age of digital media. This considers the decline in motivation for reading printed books (especially in primary school children) and the simultaneous increase in the use of digital media. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to point out the importance of developing reading proficiency when the modern age begins to separate the reader from the book. In order to understand the usefulness of the reading process on an individual`s life, it is necessary to look at how it affects his or her brain. Although reading is an unnatural process, the growth of reading proficiency stimulates the creation and strengthening of synapses in the brain. Therefore, reading is an ability that builds the brain. The culmination of the development of reading proficiency is a deep reading. It is recognized by the enjoyment of reading and immersion in the content. It also contributes to the development of empathy, the spread of knowledge and the visualization of the text. In this way, favorable foundations are built for critical thinking, which is extremely necessary to develop due to the availability of a large amount of easily accessible information. Although new media offer the possibility of faster access to information, this speed is also applied to the reading process, so superficial reading is beginning to replace deep reading. Too frequent use of digital media disturbs attention, memory and concentration, which are key to the deep reading process. That is why it is important to take a critical approach to using these sources of information. Despite the obvious negative impact of the screen on the brain of the reader, the use of digital media cannot be banned. It is necessary to maintain at least a balanced relationship between the book and the screen, especially among young people. In this, the greatest responsibility have parents and teachers, who need to teach young generations to think deeply, so that they can use their reading proficiency in the flood on information from the internet and the screen in general.
