Abstract

Roditelji su najvažniji čimbenici u odgoju djeteta te oni predstavljaju prvi model od kojeg dijete stječe znanja i usvaja navike. Danas je veliki izazov dobro odgojiti dijete. Odgoj djeteta traži kontinuiranu roditeljsku skrb. Stalna skrb podrazumijeva zaštitu dobrobiti i interesa djeteta, brigu o njegovom životu i zdravlju te da ga se odgaja kao slobodnu, osjećajnu, odgovornu i samopouzdanu osobu.
Svaki roditelj u odgoju koristi određeni odgojni stil za koji smatra da je najbolji. Odgojni stil predstavlja način na koji se roditelj ponaša prema djetetu, odnosno način na koji roditelj koristi nagrade i kazne, koja ponašanja smatra prihvatljivim, a koja neprihvatljivim. Postoje četiri vrste odgojnih stilova, a to su: autoritativni, autoritarni, permisivan i zanemarujući odgojni stil.
U ovom radu opisane su najvažnije karakteristike navedenih roditeljskih odgojnih stilova kao i njihov utjecaj na dijete. U radu se ističe i važnost pružanja potpore roditeljima u odgoju djece od strane predškolskih ustanova, odnosno odgojitelja.

Abstract (english)

Parents are the most important factors in raising a child and they represent the first model from which the child acquires knowledge and adopts habits. Today, it is a great challenge to raise a child well. Raising a child requires constant parental care. Constant care implies protection of welfare and interests of a child, care for his life and health, and that he is brought up as a free, sensitive, responsible and self-confident person.
Each parent uses a particular parenting style that they feel is best. Parenting style is a way in which a parent treats the child, that is, a way in which a parent uses rewards and punishments and which behaviors he treats as acceptable or unacceptable. There are four types of parenting styles, and they are: authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful parenting style.
This paper describes the most important characteristics of these parenting styles as well as their impact on the child. The paper also emphasizes the importance of preschool institutions, i.e. educators providing support to parents in raising children.
