Abstract

Strah je primarna emocija svakog čovjeka koja se provlači tijekom cijelog života. Dijete kroz svoje odrastanje, zavisno o dobi u kojoj se nalazi, razvija strahove karakteristične za tu dob. Mnogi autori procjenjuju da u razdoblju od druge do četrnaeste godine više od 90% djece počne patiti od nekog oblika specifičnog straha, a čak većina ima više strahova odjednom. Dječji strahovi definiraju se kao reakcija na događaj koji dijete doživljava kao prijetnju nakon čega počinje izbjegavati takve situacije jer u njegovom tijelu počinju biti prisutni osjećaji nelagode i fiziološke promjene (Vulić-Prtorić, 2002). Strah ne treba potiskivati i zaobilaziti, već se s njim treba naučiti nositi. Odgojitelji i roditelji bitni su faktori u savladavanju dječjih strahova jer su prve osobe koje strah mogu primijetiti te onda i adekvatno reagirati. Najčešći pokazatelji straha kod djece su: plač pri rastanku, čvrsto držanje ruku, odbijanje nepoznatih ljudi, problem sa spavanjem, agresivnost, mokrenje i sl. Ukoliko se na strahove ne reagira pravovremeno dijete može početi patiti od anksioznosti, fobije ili traume. Cilj ovog završnog rada je prikazati karakteristike najučestalijih dječjih razvojnih strahova te upoznati načine prevladavanja strahova.

Abstract (english)

Fear is the primary emotion of every person that runs through life. During child's development, depending on the age in which he is, develops fears characteristic of the age. Many authors estimate that between the ages of two and fourteen, more than 90% of children begin to suffer from some form of specific fear, and even most have multiple fears at once. Children's fears are defined as a reaction to an event that the child perceives as a threat, after which he begins to avoid such situations because feelings of discomfort and physiological changes begin to be present in his body (Vulić-Prtorić, 2002). Fear should not be suppressed and circumvented, but should be learned to deal with. Educators and parents are important factors in overcoming children's fears because they are the first people who notice fears in children and then they can adequately react. The most common indicators of fear in children are: crying at parting, holding hands, rejection of strangers, sleep problems, aggression, urination, etc. If the fears are not responded to in a timely manner, the child may begin to suffer from anxiety, phobia or trauma. The aim of this final paper is to present the characteristics of the most common children's developmental fears and to learn how to overcome fears.
