Abstract Svrha ovog diplomskog rada jest analizirati znanstvenofantastičnu trilogiju Ante
komponente pridonose povezanosti trilogije, a kojima ovi romani čine primjer prave dječje
znanstvene fantastike.
propagiraju neke dublje ideje i poruke, poput međusobne solidarnosti, tolerancije i poštivanja
znanstvene fantastike, radnju je potkrijepio znanstvenim i povijesnim činjenicama i time
Time nije isključio ni
oslikavanje obitelji.
Napetom i dinamičnom
Abstract (english) The aim of this graduate paper is to analyze the science fiction trilogy written by Anto
Gardaš, which involves the novels Ljubičasti Planet (1981), Bakreni Petar (1983) and Izum
profesora Leopolda (1986). The theoretical part of this paper includes basic determinants and
the historical background of science fiction. Further, science fiction in Croatian literature, as
well as Croatian children's science fiction novel will be discussed, which will make a
connection with Anto Gardaš's literary work. Novels from his science fiction trilogy may be
read as separate units, but a deeper analysis points out the common components upon which
their literary world is built. The purpose of the analysis is to showcase which components
contribute to the connection of the trilogy to which these novels set an example of true
science fiction for children. A prerequisite for approaching the literary world of these novels
is imagination. Imagination has great importance because the scientific dimension is
subordinate to the fantastic and thus everything is based upon children's vision and cognition
of the world. Since the novels are in fact adventurous, shrouded in science fiction, Gardaš
showed that those literary works are such works are perfect way to propagate some deeper
ideas and messages, such as mutual solidarity, tolerance and respect for diversity, and to
affirm fundamental human values. To respect the conventions of the science fiction genre, he
substantiated the plot with scientific and historical facts and therefore contributed to the
persuasiveness of the plot and enriched the didactic-educational part of the novel. In order to
achieve that, he created Miron's character, around whom a company is gathered in each novel.
In doing so, he conventionally shaped the children protagonists with an ironic departure and
pointed about the erasure of gender boundaries. An important role was prescribed to the adult
characters, especially to professor Leopold, who proved to be a key figure in the fabular part.
With that, he did not rule out the illustration of the family either. He illustrated a harmonious
family relations concerning children's upbringing. Gardaš confirmed that he is a master in
developing the plot. The tense and dynamic plot, simple language, and a sense of humor
resulted in creating novels that quickly became accepted by young readers and enabled the
science fiction genre to withdraw from margins of Croatian children's literature.
