Abstract

Pretilost je u dječjoj dobi dosegla razinu epidemije u razvijenim zemljama, kao i u zemljama u razvoju. Poznato je da prekomjerna tjelesna težina i pretilost u djetinjstvu imaju značajan utjecaj na fizičko i psihičko zdravlje. Djeca s prekomjernom tjelesnom težinom i pretila djeca vjerojatno će ostati pretila u odrasloj dobi i vjerojatnije je da će u mlađoj dobi razviti razne kronične bolesti poput dijabetesa i kardiovaskularnih bolesti. Temeljni je cilj ovog rada utvrditi razinu pretilosti u urbanoj populaciji djece rane i predškolske dobi. U svrhu postavljenog cilja provedeno je istraživanje među odgajateljima o uvjetima rada vezanima uz provođenje tjelesne aktivnosti djece u vrtićima Grada Zagreba te antropometrijsko mjerenje djece temeljem podataka o njihovoj visini i spolu. Rezultati istraživanja ukazuju na to da su odgajatelji na području Grada Zagreba uglavnom zadovoljni razinom opremljenosti sportskih dvorana i kvalitetom prehrane djece u vrtiću. Međutim, zbog nedostatka vremena, manjka osoblja i njihove nemotiviranosti sportsku dvoranu koriste uglavnom jednom tjedno. Nadalje, antropometrijska mjerenja provedena su nad 510 djece u pet vrtića Grada Zagreba u dobi od jedne do sedam godina. Rezultati ukazuju na to da djeca u urbanoj populaciji u najvećem postotku (92 %) imaju normalnu tjelesnu težinu, 6 % ima prekomjernu tjelesnu težinu, a 2 % je pretilo.

Abstract (english)

Childhood obesity has reached epidemic levels in both developed and developing countries. It is known that overweight and obesity in childhood have a significant impact on physical and psychological health. Overweight and obese children are likely to remain obese into adulthood and are more likely to develop various chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease at a younger age. The main goal of this paper is to determine the level of obesity in the urban population of early and preschool children. For the purpose of the set goal, a survey of educators was conducted on working conditions related to physical activity of children in kindergartens in the City of Zagreb, as well as anthropometric measurement of children based on data on their height and gender. The results of the research indicate that educators in the area of the City of Zagreb are mostly satisfied with the level of equipment of sports halls and the quality of nutrition of children in kindergarten. However, due to lack of time, lack of staff and their lack of motivation, they use the sports hall mostly once a week. Furthermore, anthropometric measurements were performed on 510 children from five kindergartens in the City of Zagreb, aged one to seven years. The results indicate that the largest percentage (92%) of children in the urban population have a normal body weight, 6% are overweight, and 2% are obese.
