Abstract Darovitost je vrlo složena i teško definirajuća pojava, no isto se tako ona vrlo često javlja u današnjem društvu i školstvu. Njeno bolje poznavanje, educiranost u tom području te rana dijagnostika mogli bi smanjiti eventualne poteškoće u kasnijem osobnom i društvenom napretku pojedinca. Jedna od definicija kaže da je darovitost sklop osobina koje omogućuju pojedincu da dosljedno postiže iznadprosječne uratke u jednoj ili više aktivnosti kojima se bavi. U školstvu je sve više takvih učenika čija se darovitost očituje u nekom području njihovog interesa. Oni se od svojih vršnjaka razlikuju po tome što određene aktivnosti rade brže, bolje i učinkovitije te pokazuju puno veći interes za neko područje. Osim samih genetskih predispozicija, djetetu je potreban još jedan faktor koji bi potencirao razvoj darovitosti, a to je djetetova neposredna okolina. Roditelji, obitelj, vršnjaci te učitelji, darovitoj su djeci važni za stvaranje obogaćene okoline kako bi potencijalna darovitost prerasla u onu produktivnu. Cilj identifikacije darovitih učenika je potaknut željom da se o njima sazna više kako bi im se omogućila odgovarajuća edukacija, dovoljna motivacija, ali prije svega aktualizacija te kako bi se poticao razvoj i zadovoljile odgojno-obrazovne potrebe. O darovitima, zbog njihovog isticanja, kreativnosti i provokativnosti, ovisi razvoj društva, stoga je problem što je ovako bitno područje nedovoljno istraženo i na neki način stavljeno na rubove interesa društva.
Abstract (english) Giftendess is a very complex and difficult-to-define phenomenon, but it also often occurs in today's society and education. Better awareness, comprehesion of giftedness and education in this field, and early diagnosis could reduce potential difficulties in the later personal and social progress of an individual. One of the definitions states that giftedness is a set of features that allow an individual to consistently perform above-average in one or more activities they attempt. The number of students whose talent is manifested in some area of their interest is increasing. They differ from their peers in the way that they work faster, better, and more efficiently in certain activities, and show greater interest in a certain area. In addition to the genetic predisposition itself, the child needs another factor that would potentiate the development of giftedness, which is the child's immediate environment. Parents, families, peers and teachers are very important in creating a supportive environment for gifted childrens so that potential giftedness will grow into that productive. The goal of identifying gifted students is encouraged by the need to learn more about them in order to provide them with appropriate education, sufficient motivation, but above all actualization, and to encourage development and meet educational needs. Gifted children, because of their emphasis, creativity and provocation, depends the development of society, so the problem that such an important area is underdeveloped and in some way put on the edges of society's interest.
