Pretilost učenika i učenica u primarnom obrazovanju

Abstract

Tema ovog istraživanja je bila pretilost učenika i učenica u primarnom obrazovanju. Uzorak se sastojao od 60 učenika i učenica starosne dobi od 9 do 11 godina iz Osnovne škole Pavao Belas. Cilj rada je bio utvrditi postoji li pretilost u primarnom obrazovanju te postoji li prevlast s obzirom na spol. Provedena su mjerenja tjelesne visine i težine te mjerenja nabora kože nadlaktice i leđa. Pomoću izmjerene visine i težine izračunali smo indeks tjelesne mase za svakog pojedinog učenika. Rezultati istraživanja su pokazali kako velika većina učenika i učenica spada u kategoriju normalno uhranjene djece, međutim kod oba spola su se javili pojedinci čiji indeksi tjelesne mase ukazuju kako imaju prekomjernu težinu, a neki su čak i na granici s pretilosti. Istraživanje je pokazalo kako je od ukupnog broja učenika koji su sudjelovali u istraživanju njih 76% u kategoriji normalno uhranjene djece, 27% u kategoriji ili na granici prekomjerne težine, a 11% učenika se nalazi u kategoriji ili na granici pothranjene djece. Kod učenika su rezultati pokazali kako je oko 63% dječaka u skupini normalno uhranjene djece, međutim 27% dječaka se nalazi na granici ili su u kategoriji prekomjerne težine. Kod djevojčica je njih 76% u kategoriji normalno uhranjene djece, a svega 7% je na granici ili su u kategoriji prekomjerno teške djece. Prema tome je utvrđeno kako postoji pretilost kod učenika i učenica u primarnom obrazovanju. Također je utvrđeno kako postoje značajne razlike u tjelesnoj težini i u indeksu tjelesne mase s obzirom na spol.

Abstract (english)

The subject of this study is obesity in primary school students. The sample consisted of 60 students of both genders, from 9 to 11 years old from Pavao Belas Elementary School. The aim of the study was to establish whether there is obesity in primary education and whether there is a prevalence with regard to gender. Body weight and height were measured along with skinfold measurement on the upper arm and back. The measured height and weight were used to calculate Body Mass Index for each student. The study results demonstrated that a great majority of the students is in the normal weight range. However, in both genders there were individuals whose Body Mass Indexes are in the overweight range with some bordering on obesity. The study demonstrated that of the total number of children participating in the study, 76% were in the normal weight range, 27% in or bordering on the overweight range while 11% were underweight or very close to it. In male students, results showed that about 63% were of normal weight while 27% were overweight or bordering on it. Among female students 76% were of normal weight and only 7% were overweight or bordering on it. Accordingly, it was determined that obesity exists in female and male students in primary education. Similarly, it was ascertained that there are significant differences in body weight and Body Mass Index with regard to gender.
