Abstract

S obzirom na to da prijašnja istraživanja pokazuju kako se kućni ljubimci danas smatraju značajnim članovima obitelji, cilj je ovoga rada utvrditi kakav utjecaj oni mogu imati na socioemocionalni razvoj djece. Mnoga istraživanja na ovu temu ukazala su na pozitivne učinke koje kućni ljubimci mogu imati na djecu koja uz njih odrastaju. Smatra se da, kako dijete može razviti privrženost s ljudima iz okoline, da je tako moguće razviti i onu s ljubimcima. Zbog toga je ispitivanje odnosa između djeteta i ljubimca glavni pokretač svakog istraživanja na ovu temu. Neka od njih utvrdila su da je kvaliteta odnosa koje dijete ostvaruje sa svojim ljubimcem ključna za razvoj dječje empatije i socijalnih vještina, koje su jedne od osnovnih sastavnica socioemocionalnog razvoja. Rezultati istraživanja u ovome radu pokazuju kako je djetetov emocionalni odnos s ljubimcem intenzivniji kod djevojčica nego kod dječaka, što se slaže s rezultatima prijašnjih istraživanja. Nadalje, pokazalo se da postoji povezanost između posjedovanja ljubimca i emocionalnosti djece te njihovih socioemocionalnih odnosa. Postoje određena ograničenja ovoga upitnika, međutim neke čestice kod kojih se pokazala značajna razlika u spolu ili posjedovanju ljubimca, mogle bi se koristiti u budućim istraživanjima ove teme. Također, potrebno je obuhvatiti i ostale čimbenike koji mogu imati važnu ulogu u definiranju utjecaja ljubimca na dijete, a za to su potrebna mnoga detaljna istraživanja.

Abstract (english)

Since previous research shows that pets are considered to be important members of the family today, the aim of this paper is to determine the impact they may have on socioemotional development of children. Many research on this subject has shown the positive effects that pets can have on children who grow up with them. It is considered that, as a child can develop attachment to people from the environment, it is also possible to develop that with pets. Therefore, questioning the relationship between a child and a pet is the main starter of any research on this topic. Some of them found that the quality of relationships that the child achieves with their pets is essential to the development of child empathy and social skills, which are one of the main components of the socioemotional development. The research results in this paper show that the child's emotional relationship with pets is more intense in girls than in boys, which is consistent with previous research results. Furthermore, it has been shown that there is a connection between the pet´s possession and the emotionality of children and their socioemotional relationships. There are certain limitations of this questionnaire, but some particles with significant gender differences or pet ownership can be used in future research on this topic. It is also necessary to include other factors that can play an important role in defining the effect of the pet on the child, for which many detailed studies are required.
