Abstract

Strahovi su sastavni dio dječjeg razvoja. Oni postoje od najranije dobi i mijenjaju se ovisno o stupnju djetetovog razvoja. Odrastanje djeteta prožeto je mnogim doživljajima i iskustvima koji uzrokuju osjećaj nesigurnosti i straha. Najveća pomoć koju roditelji mogu pružiti djetetu je pomoći im da nauče prevladavati strahove. Strah nije loš, on nas upozorava na opasnost i priprema naše tijelo na bijeg ili borbu. Neki stahovi su potpuno prirodni, na primjer strah od divljih životinja ili psa na lancu. U današnje vrijeme neki od tih strahova su suvišni i često smetaju, no osjećaj straha se ne može jednostavno isključiti niti se od njega možemo odviknuti. Zbog toga ne smijemo težiti potiskivanju strahova ili njihovom zaobilaženju jer su oni nezaobilazni dio ljudskog života. Često roditelji prenose svoj strah na dijete. Kada se boravi s djecom bitno je zračiti veseljem i sigurnošću kako bi i sama djeca stekla osjećaj sigurnosti. Neki od znakova po kojima se prepoznaje strah su čvrsto držanje majke za ruku, plač pri rastanku, odbijanje nepoznatih ljudi, problem sa spavanjem, agresivnost, noćno mokrenje, mucanje i slično. Budući da su strahovi važni u svim etapama djetetova života ne smijemo ih zanemarivati. Odrasli trebaju reagirati na sve strahove djece kako bi ona postala sigurna, samouvjerena i sposobna sama savladavati strahove u kasnijoj dobi (Stiefenhofer, 2002).

Abstract (english)

Fears are main component od child’s growth. They exist since the earliest age and change depending of the child’s growth degree. Growing of the children is full of experiences that can cause feelings of insecurity and fear. Biggest help that parents can give to their children is helping them overcoming their fears. Fears is not bad, it warns us of the danger and prepares our body to fight or to escape. Some fears are completely natural, for example fear of wild animals or dog on the leash. Today, some of those fears are needless and often in the way, but we cannot just turn of our sence of fear. Because od that we must not strive for suppressing our fears for they are unavoidable part of human life. Parents often pass their fears on to their children. When staying with children, it is important to be happy and secure so that children
theirselves could have the feeling of security. Some of the signs from which we can recognize fear are holding mother’s hand tightly, crying at good byes, rejecting strangers, sleeping troubles, aggression, night meeting, studding and similar. Since the fears are important at every stage of children’s life they must not be neglected. Grownups should react to all children’s fear so they can become secure, confident and capable of overcoming their own fears later in life.
