Abstract

"Jezik je apstraktan sustav znakova i pravila koji ponajprije služi sporazumijevanju, ali ne mora uvijek i svuda imati istu ulogu, svrhu i sustav vrijednosti.'' (Pavličević – Franić, 2007, str.34). Jezik je oblik komunikacije koji se uči i razvija. Čovjek se ne rađa sa znanjem jezika. Prilikom učenja jezika i jezičnih djelatnosti, važno je osigurati primjeren pristup kako bi se učenje svelo na zabavan, a opet produktivno edukativan način. M. Wolf (2019) govori kako je upravo fleksibilnost mozga ta koja najviše očarava, sposobnost da prekorači svoje izvorne biološke funkcije (poput vida i jezika) kako bi razvio potpuno nove sposobnosti poput pisanja i računanja. Djeca najlakše pamte kada im se problem prikaže u konkretnoj, stvarnoj situaciji. Primjerice, ukoliko dijete smatra da mu neko znanje nije potrebno, neće ga imati volje stjecati. S druge strane, ako o problemu može učiti kroz praksu, znanje će ostati trajnije. Iz tog razloga, važno je prvo djeci prikazati važnost poznavanja čitanja i pisanja kako bi stvorili unutarnju motivaciju koja će ih poticati na učenje. Unutarnja motivacija mnogo je produktivnija od vanjske jer polazi od djeteta samog i njegove želje da savlada novi sadržaj, dok vanjska motivacija nagrađuje dodatnim poticajima rezultate. Razlika je jasna, s unutarnjom motivacijom dijete je nagrađeno znanjem te je znanje krajnji cilj učenja. Kod vanjske motivacije, znanje je samo sredstvo kojim se dolazi do nagrade. Kvalitetan učitelj u djeci stvara volju za učenjem i novim otkrivanjem, svaki sat je nova pustolovina i nova prilika za dječjom produktivnošću. U tu svrhu, učitelj se trudi sat organizirati na kreativan način i primjeren dječjem uzrastu. Istraživanje koje je provedeno u svrhu pisanja diplomskog rada bavilo se proučavanjem navika čitanja djece ranije školske dobi (3. razred) te koliko čitanje utječe na proširenje njihova vokabulara.

Abstract (english)

Language is an abstract system of signs and rules that primarily serves to communicate, but it doesn't always have the same role, purpose and value system. '' (Pavličević - Franić, 2007, p.34). Language is a form of communication that is learned and developed. Man is not born with the knowledge of language. When learning a language and language activities, it is important to ensure an appropriate approach to make learning a fun yet productive and educational process. M. Wolf (2019) says that it is the flexibility of the brain that fascinates the most, the ability to transcend its original biological functions (such as sight and language) to develop completely new abilities such as writing and arithmetic. Children remember best when the problem is presented to them in a concrete, real situation. For example, if a child feels that he does not need some knowledge, it will not have the will to acquire it. On the other hand, if it can learn about the problem through practice, the knowledge will remain more lasting. For this reason, it is important to first show children the importance of reading and writing in order to create an intrinsic motivation that will encourage them to learn. Internal motivation is much more productive than external because it starts from the child itself and it's desire to master new content, while external motivation rewards the results with additional incentives. The difference is clear, with intrinsic motivation the child is rewarded with knowledge and knowledge is the ultimate goal of learning. In external motivation, knowledge is only a means by which a reward is reached. A quality teacher in children creates a will to learn and discover new things, every class is a new adventure and a new opportunity for children's productivity. To this end, the teacher strives to organize the lesson in a way that is creative and suitable for children. The research conducted for the purpose of writing this paper dealt with the study of reading habits of children of an earlier school age (3rd grade) and the extent to which reading affects the expansion of their vocabulary.
