Abstract

Cilj je rada prikazati načine na koji djeca usvajaju i uče strani (engleski) jezik. Opisan je jezični razvoj i razvoj govora kod djece, njihova sposobnost za usvajanje jezika i suvremene teorije o usvajanju jezika, načini na koji djeca usvajaju materinski, drugi i strani jezik, koji čimbenici utječu na usvajanje ovih jezika, njihova međusobna povezanost te dvojezičnost kod djece kroz situacije u kojima se dvojezično dijete nalazi u okolini i svojem domu. Cilj je također prikazati metode poučavanja poput Total Physical Response (TPR), task-based learning technique (TBLT), Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), utjecaj poticajnog okruženja, vršnjaka i druge djece na učenje engleskoga kao stranoga jezika, vizualnih medija, knjiga i slikovnica na engleskom jeziku te aktivnosti poput pjevanja pjesmica i brojalica na engleskom jeziku koje pozitivno utječu na dijete i daju najbolje rezultate kod učenja engleskoga kao stranog jezika.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this thesis is to show the ways in which children acquire and learn a foreign (English) language. The thesis describes language and speech development in children, their ability to acquire language and modern theories on language acquisition, the ways in which children acquire their mother tongue, second and foreign languages, which factors influence the acquisition of these languages and their mutual connection, and bilingualism in children through situations in which a bilingual child finds him or herself in the environment and in the home. The aim is also to show teaching methods such as Total Physical Response (TPR), task-based learning technique (TBLT), Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), the influence of a stimulating environment, peers and other children on learning English as a foreign language, visual media, books and picture books in English, and activities such as singing songs and counting in English that positively influence the child and give the best results when learning English as a foreign language.
